For Week 3 of our ongoing celebration of Women’s History Month, we’re inviting you to join us at the Mississippi State Capitol on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 for MWESI/Women in the Hall Lobby Day!
From 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. we will engage with legislators and supporters on this year’s legislative effort to support women’s economic security. During the event, MWESI also will host a press conference at 10 a.m. in the 2nd floor rotunda to discuss legislation promoted this year in an effort to uplift and support Mississippi’s women.
In addition to MWESI leaders, the press conference will include several key speakers, including Mississippi lawmakers and a representative from State Treasurer Lynn Fitch’s office. Dozens of supporters representing organizations from across the state will also attend to raise their voices in support of key issues impacting the state’s women, including pay equity, education, quality child care, women’s health, domestic violence and sexual assault.
MWESI’s Lobby Day at the Capitol is an annual event where organizers engages in a robust dialogue with lawmakers about gender justice and women’s rights in Mississippi. MWESI is a project of the Mississippi Low-Income Child Care Initiative.
